Do you ask your clients to sign a contract? Do you offer payment by way of instalments? What do you do if and when things go wrong?  Fingers crossed they don’t, but business is business!

In the Show..

Over Easter weekend Judith lost faith in the world, unable to see anything but darkness which is unusual for her. And Nicola made a startling discovery about her own website’s mobile responsiveness and has a warning for all listeners – check the usability of your own website on your smartphone or tablet. Don’t rely on what you see on your desktop or laptop. The experience can be completely different for your visitors.

  • What’s Fuelled Their Fire?

As an antidote to the darkness, Judith is throwing herself into work with only two long days in the office this week. And Nicola called upon Judith over the bank holiday to help her out with brainstorming her new domain name for an upmarket branch of her existing business.

  • Client Challenge of the Week

What to do if your clients sign up for something you offer, then scarper without meeting their side of the deal, or inferring that you haven’t. Does either party have any legal redress? What should you do if the circumstances are covered by your contract/terms & conditions and what if they are not? What if clients don’t pay in full, having taken the instalment option but then suspend your core service while still wanting to keep access to the remainder of the benefits which come with your package? And what if they never provide you with what you need to do a good job for them? Is better client qualification the answer, or better contracts, or both?

  • Words of the Week

Judith picks Sensitive and Nicola chooses Grit.

  • Project Updates

Judith is talking to +/- 16 (sixteen!) potential new clients before she has to close her doors, hopefully temporarily, and put her prices up to account for VAT. And Nicola is thinking about the new variation on her existing business aimed at a different audience sector and using different marketing methods which are a bit scary.

  • Who or What’s Impressed?

Judith is impressed by Fantastic Gardeners, especially Emil with his strimmer as he attacks her patio weeds with gusto, and Nicola is impressed by those who leverage their content and thinks Own It should be doing more of that.
