A chance remark in episode 073 led to Nicola and Judith deciding to run their own virtual summit on a weekend in June, just eight weeks away. Hear all about how that idea took flight in this week’s podcast, and following along each week as we bring our idea to fruition.

In the Show..

Nicola’s been quietly getting on with her business and her life while Judith’s had a life-changing week, selling her home, re-housing her cat, and accepting an offer to live in France for six months, the cat and the home both courtesy of her clients.

  • What’s Fuelled Their Fire?

Nicola is excited about her first few adventures on Facebook Video Live including broadcasting live to 800+ members of Dan Norris’s 7-Day Startup group. Here’s a link to a blog post by Sarah Cairncross (who set it all up for her) on how to set up your Facebook Live Video step by step. And Judith has another PWYW (pay what you want) consultation booked, this time with someone from Houston in Texas who has been using the model for some time but now he’s switching niche where it isn’t the norm and wants to brainstorm.

  • Client Opportunity of the Week

In this episode Nicola and Judith talk about how their Own It! Virtual Summit grew from a chance remark into a fully fledged business opportunity within a matter of moments. Nicola’s thrown herself into the tech challenge and Judith is feeling quite overwhelmed about the amount of work to do in 9 short weeks at the same time as moving house. It is both the best and the worst timing for her, as she’s about to start living Beyond the Laptop Lifestyle in her own right, no more watching from the sidelines!

  • Words of the Week

Judith chooses Yes and Nicola picks Ignited.

  • Project Updates

Week by week, between now and the Own It! Virtual Summit on 18th June, the podcast will document the journey, the work, the speakers and the stats as N&J work towards making this inspiring event happen. Nicola briefs us on the tech, Trello, Instagram, Twitter, landing pages, opt-ins, Zapier and Facebook. Oh, and a Thunderclap campaign whose reach is currently 139,761 at the time of writing. Watch this figure rise daily!

  • Who or What’s Impressed?

Judith is impressed by Kevin Costner, actor/director pioneer, who described himself as having “bought” his own roles when the Hollywood studios wouldn’t green light his projects so he funded them himself and created some of the most memorable cinematic experiences (and profits!) in the process. He’s still got it and it was a very inspiring interview on Graham Norton’s chat show, with acting royalty reverentially hanging on his every artistic and entrepreneurial word.

Nicola’s vote this week goes to her sister Sarah, who has been not only an invaluable companion in the last few difficult weeks but also become Nicola’s “mini me” as she gets more and more adept at Facebook Ads and even went first with finding out how Facebook live video works and more.
