Will perseverance guarantee or enhance your chances of business success? J&N were inspired by advice from one of the summit speakers, who cited perseverance as the reason for his own success, to think about when you should press on and when you might pivot instead.
In the Show..
Monday morning was very rainy and both Nicola and Judith were experiencing adrenaline come-down from the summit weekend and a degree of exhaustion, This manifested in different ways but created trying days for each of them. Happily, Tuesday dawned.
- What’s Fuelled Their Fire?
Nicola’s excited about her new artisan foods matching software, and Judith’s been inspired by the rave reviews of those who attended the summit weekend live and their feedback enabled her to feel pride in the worthwhile project to which the podcast has given birth.
- Client Challenge of the Week
When should you persevere with your business idea and when should you switch to another? Nicola and Judith debate their various business experiences around what worked and what didn’t and where perseverance played a role. How long does each different sort of business require that you get your head down, do the work, bat away distractions from other genius ideas and just focus for a successful outcome?
Book Recommendation: The Dip by Seth Godin
- Words of the Week
Judith chooses Kindness and Nicola picks Time.
- Project Updates
After a couple of months dominated by the virtual summit, J & N compare notes on what worked and what didn’t. Both appear reluctant to ever commit to such a thing again. Were the live days on the weekend both too long at 9 interviews each? Would a shorter day be better for live attendees and organisers alike? If so, would the product thus created, the recordings, be less compelling? What are the other upsides of having undertaken this project? How does being in momentum about anything you are passionate about draw other good results into your reality?
- Who or What’s Impressed?
Nicola and her sister, Sarah, are thrilled with their decision to sign up with Gousto – get £25 off your first box here – and they are enjoying a variety of healthy recipes which they cook fresh every evening.
Judith tells the story of John, the controller at the local taxi firm, Safe Cars, who helped her to get Mitsy into her carrying box and deliver her to her new forever home, after she expensively bungled her first attempt earlier in the week. All’s well that ends well.
